New Year's Resolutions...

So, this year Jon and I did something a little different. Jon knows someone that said every year they make posters expressing their resolutions, dreams and goals for the new year. So this year we decided to try it out. Last year my biggest resolution was to lose weight, as always. I actually did it!! I lost 15 pounds last year...however, I still need to lose more so it made my list. Anyway, back to the story. So, we bought a poster board and each got a half of it. We bought markers and made them all colorful and pretty (in my case). Then we hung them up in a place where we will see them all year long. We weren't sure where to put them initially and then decided to put them up in the pantry, right inside the door. So, we will see them MANY times a day. Jon also wrote his down so he can look at them at other times too. I will share with you some of the ones that I had on my board. Like I said they are dreams, goals and resolutions...so, lose more weight, exercise of course, read my Bible/study everyday (we each bought a new Bible that has reading the Bible in a year so easy, it is all set up for you with dates and everything!!), pray more, simplify my life, keep to a budget, start a vegetable garden, let go of my fears and worries to God, slow down and enjoy life more, less tv and internet, Saturday night cooking nights (something we started where we cook a new recipe together on Saturday nights), get a hobby, not be afraid to fly, make a list of things I want to do with my life, have deep and lasting relationships...and on and on it goes. I feel really good about the things I put on my poster. They are all achieveable, all within my grasp and seeing them everyday will remind of the things that I want to accomplish. So, I encourage you to all write down your resolutions and maybe you can achieve them this year. Or if you actually read this blog you can share some of yours with me. I hope you all have a happy and blessed new year.

We are doing the read through the Bible too. To start we do a little Genesis and a little Matthew a day. Is that how your new Bible lays it out, or no?

Our Bibles lays it out with Old Testament (Genesis to begin), Pslams, Proverbs and then New Testament (Matthew to begin). It makes really easy to read with it all set up like that already and the dates are in there too. Very user friendly. They were on sale at Lifeway. Just a couple chapters from each. I love it. I can show it to you if you want :)

Amy, What a great idea for your goals and dreams! I have mine written down in a journal, but they are too easily out of sight that way. Will have to try that at home w. Mike. I bought myself a new study bible right before Christmas and am really enjoying it. Reading and studying everyday is one of my goals too. Right now I'm in the book of John and 1Thessalonians for classes, and Pastor has been preaching from Joshua (amazing!). Just bought a book on the women of the bible, and am almost through w. Jesus the One and Only by Beth Moore. So you can see I'm not too organized, but taking it all in whenever I can. Have you heard of Barlow Girl? They are in concert at church this Saturday - I've not heard them before, but I will be helping out on Saturday so will get to at least see part of the concert for free! I'll let you know how it goes. Got to meet Matthew West before Christmas by doing the same thing. He was a very nice young man. Say hi to everyone for me. -Beautiful post on your relationship w. Jon!

Deb-

What book are you reading about women of the Bible? I have read Extraordinary Women and it was really good and have read Believing God by Beth Moore and it was SO good! I LOVE Barlow Girl and Matthew West. You guys get REALLY good concerts at your church. I think you will really like Barlow Girl. It was great to hear from you :) Thanks for the nice comment.
