My parents were out of town on Jon's birthday weekend so we celebrated with them this past weekend. With my family on our birthdays we typically get together and the birthday boy or girl gets to pick their favorite meal for dinner. My mom asks Jon every year knowing what his answer will be; her homemade fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. We have tried to replicate her chicken and we never have. In fact, the last time we tried to make it, it ended with us using our cast iron skillet, smoke throughout the house and grease splattered on our carpet. It is a long story but grease ended up on our family room carpet as we were trying to get the heavy cast iron skillet out of the house as it was smoking. That was over 4 years ago. It was tragic, so we have never attempted it again.

what cute pics :) happy birthday dinners are always such fun!! and I have never, ever, ever been able to fry chicken and one be able to eat it! It's either burned to a crisp and dried out, or too raw to eat :/
Thanks for letting me know that you are blogging again and about the baby. I love you guys and yes I do enjoy reading your blog. I now have it saved in my favorites and will look every few days!
Love you!
